Hemus motorway conecting Varna and Sofia is the newest top priority strategic project

Bulgaria's new/old Regional Development Minister Lilyana Pavlova recently stated in a TV interview that Bulgaria will seek a long-term loan of around 0.5 BGN from the European Investment Bank and the World Bank to finance the project, which shall be paid off for a 17 year term.
The total length of the motorway is just short of 420km and at present only about 38% of the Hemus motorway has been built. Currently the Hemus motorway is about 85 km long at Varna - Sofia direction and about 80km at Sofia-Varna direction.
The Regional Minister stated that the construction of a 60-km section of the Hemus motorway from Yablanitsa direction Pleven-Lovech fork would start in 2015.
