The Bulgarian Health Ministry has confirmed that the present Covid-19 measures will continue until April 12th (inclusive) in a recent statement.
A lockdown will remain in place during this time however essential services will remain open following strict sanitary and hygiene requirements. In line with many other European countries, citizens are asked to stay home unless they need to go to food shopping, attend a doctors or pharmacy or conduct work that cannot be done at home.
Travel to and from Bulgaria during this time is also very restricted and we would advise anyone looking to visit to postpone until the lockdown has officially ended. Foreign citizens that do visit the country must spend 14 days in quarantine and they should declare where they are spending the 14 days.
Foreign nationals that are already in Bulgaria and are unable to leave at the end of their three month stay may apply to the Migration Directorate for their deadline to be extended.
The Bulgarian Government has issued a number of measures provide support to those most in need during the lockdown. As of March 31st, confirmed cases of the virus was 399.
