There is good news for Varna football fans as FC Cherno More (Black Sea FC) has been given a grant to improve their Ticha Stadium.
As part of the Bulgarian government’s drive to improve football and sporting facilities in the country, a 1 million BGN (approximately 500,000 Euro) grant has been awarded to the football club.
The grant will be used to improve and renovate the Ticha stadium and improve the lighting.
In a recent visit to Varna, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced news of the grant to the public.
“We are not going to build a completely new stadium, but will finance the refurbishment of the Ticha stadium,” stated Borisov.
He continued, “The state wants to help football clubs improve their stadiums for the benefit of visitors and Bulgarian football. Sports Minister Krasen Kralev spoke to me about the need to improve the pitch and lighting at the Ticha Stadium and the revenues of the state budget allow us to fund this”.
Ticha is the second stadium that the Bulgarian state has granted renovation funds to.
League champions, Ludogorets, received a grant to build a new level at the Ludogrets Arena to accommodate more fans.
It is expected that funds will be released to FC Cherno Moreby the end of the year, but no firm date has been confirmed for the start of renovations.
