German investment interest in Bulgaria increases in 2015

Investment interest from German firms has increased over 2015 according to a statement on Wednesday by Bulgarian Economy minister Bozhidar Lukarski.
Lukarski, who opened German firm Kaufland’s 54th store in Bulgaria, noted that Kaufland’s continued expansion within Bulgaria is a sign of the Bulgarian Government’s positive attitude towards foreign investment within the country.
Kaufland alone has investment over 1.2 Billion BGN and employs over 6000 people and works with over 850 Bulgarian producers, making them a serious retail chain within the country.
The German Ambassador to Bulgaria, His Excellency Detlef Lingemann, echoed Lukarski’s comments and stated that German investors are looking at Bulgaria with a lot of interest.
Over 60 German firms have confirmed serious interest in investing further in Bulgaria, something both Lingemann and Lukarski are looking to cultivate.
Bulgaria has the lowest flat rate tax in Europe and is viewed as a business friendly environment. Bulgaria is looking to further pursue outside investment into the country and Bozhidar Lukarski is undoubtedly hoping to open more Kaufland stores in the not too distant future.
