The road to this lovely cottage took us past lavender fields. It was early March this year and the flowers weren’t blossoming yet, but you can imagine how fantastic the sweet perfume must be in high summer.
Then as we approached lavender cottage, there were many pine trees to give freshness to the air. Than the property itself. And we were impressed. Its lovely painted wall shone in the sunshine. A pair of neat white gates led in to the property, but before we went in we stood back and marveled at the huge garage to the right. It was as big as a house itself! So handy if you’ve got furniture, equipment or anything else you need storing.
Past the gates, was a clean concrete surface yard. Obviously easy to maintain. Then to the cottage itself into a conservatory style porch. Through the main doorway, and the dining room was on the left. There was a bed here, but the owner is an elderly woman. She was the former Rector of Shoumen University and professor of the Bulgarian language and literature. You can tell it was the home of a caring and educated person. Although obviously modest in its fittings, nevertheless the cottage has a calm and simple beauty about it.
